The High Keep is one of the most pivotal main quests in Hogwarts Legacy, offering players an exciting blend of stealth, environmental puzzle-solving, and story progression. By joining forces with Natty near Falbarton Castle, players take on a secret operation to expose dark wizards and rescue legendary magical creatures. Completing this mission serves as a major milestone, as it grants players access to flying mounts that completely transform exploration across the open world.

Starting the Mission and Infiltrating Falbarton Castle

To begin the quest, players must head east of Hogsmeade to meet Natty near the ruins of Falbarton Castle. Upon arrival, a quick dialogue sets up the main objective: retrieving an incriminating letter that links Victor Rookwood to Theophilus Harlow. Since the main entrance is sealed tight, players are tasked with finding an alternative way up through the battlements.

Scaling the outer walls requires clever spell usage to create climbable platforms. Players must target a spinning mechanism with Depulso to unlock a small chamber holding a movable crate. Pulling the crate out with Accio and elevating it using Levioso creates the perfect stepping stone to reach the upper battlements.

Opening the Gatehouse and Infiltrating the Interior

Once on the upper walkway, players need to clear wooden barricades blocking a narrow crawlspace. Before crawling through, players should walk around to the nearby window and cast Accio on a crate inside to clear the interior path. Inside the gatehouse, casting Depulso repeatedly on the central mechanism raises the heavy main gate.

Timing is crucial during this step, as the gate drops quickly unless secured. Casting Accio immediately on the wall handle locks the gate in place, allowing Natty to enter safely. After a dramatic cutscene reveals poachers holding Highwing the Hippogriff, the duo splits up to reach the roof.

Reaching the Roof and Unlocking Flying Mounts

Navigating the upper levels of the castle involves overcoming broken staircases and hostile poachers. To bridge a gap in the stairs, players can push a crate through a floor hole with Depulso and position it using Wingardium Leviosa and Levioso. Stealthy players can use Disillusionment and Petrificus Totalus to quietly neutralize guards patrolling the corridors.

Using Alohomora to unlock doors leads players to the highest tower where Highwing and another Hippogriff are chained. After freeing the creatures, players fly away alongside Natty in a breathtaking escape sequence. Completing this quest permanently unlocks flying mounts, adding unprecedented freedom to travel throughout Hogwarts Legacy.
