Je trouve si facile de lire des commentateurs qualifiés qui sont 180 degrés opposés les uns aux autres.

Après avoir obtenu mon diplôme de l'Université de Glasgow, j'étais un archéologue indépendant allant de fouilles en fouilles en Écosse, et ce n'était pas bien payé. J'étais un excavateur, pas un conférencier aussi, donc payer le loyer d'un appartement était délicat. J'ai finalement décidé de me reconvertir en journaliste car je n'y voyais pas d'avenir.

Je vis dans un cadeau perpétuel. Je ne regarde pas en arrière et je n'ai pas hâte. Je vis juste d'une semaine à l'autre.

Mon père était un vendeur indépendant et des commissions. Il a vendu des cuisines à double vitrage et ajustées, entre autres. Comme il ne s'est jamais déclaré au chômage, il n'y a jamais eu de recours aux prestations, donc si l'argent était serré, l'argent était serré. Cela m'a appris que nous étions une unité fermée et que nous devions être ingénieux.

C'est la sécurité que j'ai envie et que l'argent assure la sécurité. Quelle est cette ancienne ligne de l'argent? "Certains sont bons, plus c'est mieux et trop c'est juste."

J'ai confiance à la chance. Je prévois d'être millionnaire avant de mourir, mais je n'ai pas de plan sur la façon dont cela se produira.

La télévision est venue me chercher; Ce n'était jamais un plan pour devenir présentateur.

Je me méfie des nouvelles façons de payer sans contact. L'idée de payer avec votre téléphone est un peu inquiétante: j'en ai perdu plus d'un au fil des ans.

Je veux regarder au-delà des légendes, trouver la vraie histoire de l'Écosse. Et c'est tout aussi passionnant.

Ma femme m'a toujours soutenu dans ma carrière, même quand il y avait des moments où il était plus judicieux d'obtenir un emploi. C'est sa confiance en moi qui a énormément aidé.

Les gens qui regardent ce que je fais de l'extérieur penseraient que c'était un monde sécurisé dans lequel je vis, mais ce n'est pas le cas. Ce n'est pas parce que vous avez eu une série l'année dernière. Mais j'en suis très content.

J'ai travaillé sur des journaux locaux, avant de prendre un emploi de webmaster avec une entreprise de télécommunications très connue à Londres, car je pensais qu'Internet était l'avenir.

L'exemple de mon père m'a appris l'autonomie, à faire ma propre chance et à travailler pour faire bouger les choses.
