Cela commença par un tremblement de terre. Dans la confusion, au milieu des cris des victimes, personne ne prêta vraiment attention à ce brouillard jaunâtre qui, s'échappait de la terre éventrée et que le vent eut tôt fait d'emporter vers la campagne anglaise. Puis des massacres inexplicables, déments, furent signalés sur le passage de la nappe de brouillard. Elle se mit à croître, progressant inexorablement vers les zones les plus peuplées de l'Angleterre.

" Nous pensions avoir trouvé le refuge idéal, un cottage perdu au coeur de la forêt.Il était sans doute un peu délabré, mais tout à fait charmant et si paisible... C'est là que la magie a commencé. Midge et moi, nous avons atteint des sommets de créativité dans nos domaines respectifs : elle a peint des toiles extraordinaires et je me suis mis à jouer de la guitare comme un dieu ! Quant à l'amour qui nous unissait, c'est devenu la magie suprême... Mais, comme toute médaille a son revers, le cottage avait lui aussi son mauvais côté.Et c'est là qu'intervient la mauvaise magie...
