Résumé

1939 Eastern Europe. Following the kidnapping of a group of children, a gypsy clan, along with Josef, a policeman whose son is missing, organizes a search. On their trail, they travel through Bohemia to be interned and deported to Auschwitz. Parked in the death camp, they languish, deprived of what they hold most dear: their children and freedom.Batchalo is a historical narrative in comic form featuring the story of a Gypsy community during the Second World War, their persecution by the Nazis at Auschwitz and their tragic end. This book explores the the origin and history of the Roma population while throwing light into a little-known episode of genocide. Though the story is fiction many of the facts are historical and real as the authors researched extensively and utilized a wealth of documentation from that era while working on this comic album.
