It describes a variety of firewall technologies (packet filtering, proxying, network address translation, virtual private networks) and architectures, and more than one hundred Internet services from email and file transfer, to web services and scripting languages, to naming, authentication, and database protocols. The book also contains chapters on security policies, cryptography, maintaining firewalls, and responding to security incidents, as well as summaries of helpful firewall tools and other resources.
