In the Interview Jane M. Saks discusses with the artist the defining episodes and encounters that have marked his career. In the Survey text Robert Hobbs builds a comprehensive picture of Hodges's art and how it has evolved over the past four decades. Artist and curator Julie Ault analyses an ongoing series of sculptures Hodges has started in the late 2000s that rekindle the close relationship to nature he developed while growing up in the state of Washington. In Studio Visit Tim Hailand captures the creative process of Hodges's multifaceted work. Artist's Writings features The Story (2003), a short text about Hodges's infancy that the artist wrote on a postcard ; What Was (2010), a touching tribute to Hodges's friend and fellow artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres, and Untitled (2020), a contribution put together specifically for this publication.
