Mais les Martiens n'étaient pas des loups. Leur culture était plus riche que celle des Terriens. Le premier problème de Mike ? Survivre sur la Terre ! Tout lui était agression : la pesanteur, la pression atmosphérique, et surtout les hommes... Le second problème fut pour lui de comprendre en quoi les humains différaient des Martiens et pourquoi ils étaient malheureux…En terre étrangère, qui obtint le prix Hugo en 1962, est généralement considéré comme le meilleur roman de Robert Heinlein, lui-même l'un des plus fameux écrivains américains de science-fiction. Ce fut le livre culte des campus durant les années soixante et soixante-dix, et il est devenu un classique incontesté.
