The Doctor in Spite of Himself or The Physician in Spite of Himself or The mock doctor is a comedy in three acts and in prose.Great classic of French literature. Sganarelle is an alcoholic woodcutter, prankster and deceiver. He beats his wife Martine and to avenge herself, she tells the domestics of Geronte que Sganarelle is a great doctor but he will only admit so it if he’s beaten up. Ready to be hanged for his nitpicking with Geronte, Sganarelle is forgiven by a lucky coup de theater and reconciles with Martine.
