Avant Dune ; Dune : la Genèse ; La Route de Dune... L'audacieuse entreprise de Brian Herbert et Kevin J. Anderson de redonner vie au monde créé par Frank Herbert a offert à la collection Ailleurs et Demain parmi ses plus récents best-sellers...
Après la trilogie Avant Dune (60 000 exemplaires), qui racontait les évènements ayant immédiatement précédé le célèbre roman de Frank Herbert, et après une seconde trilogie, Dune : la Genèse (55 000 exemplaires), qui narrait les événements plus anciens de dix millénaires et le terrible combat entre l'humanité et les Machines Pensantes, Brian Herbert et Kevin J. Anderson ont réuni dans La Route de Dune (paru fin 2006 et déjà vendu à près de 7000 exemplaires), des textes inédits et des documents, dont certains de la main de Frank Herbert lui-même, éclairant ou complétant l'histoire de Paul Muad'Dib, le Kwisatz  Haderach.
Avec Les Chasseurs de Dune, les héritiers littéraires de Frank Herbert se proposent de compléter le cycle de Dune. 
Frank Herbert lui-même avait indiqué de façon certes allusive son intention de donner une suite et une conclusion au cycle. La mort de sa femme Beverly en 1984, suivie d'assez près par sa propre disparition en 1986, laissait craindre qu'il n'en ait rien fait. On savait seulement qu'il travaillait à quelque chose sur un ordinateur portable au moment de sa mort. Herbert et Anderson disent avoir retrouvé un plan et des notes détaillées sur un tirage d'imprimante ainsi que deux vieilles disquettes au moment où ils préparaient Avant Dune et s'être inspirés de ces documents.
La suite et fin du cycle, tant attendue par des millions de lecteurs, ne devrait pas décevoir ceux-ci : ces Chasseurs de Dune (premier d'une série de deux) représente probablement le meilleur volume issu de la collaboration d'Herbert et Anderson.
Le dernier volume de Dune, La Maison des Mères, laissait l'action en suspens et le lecteur sur son attente. Les redoutables Honorées Matriarches avaient surgi du fond de l'espace, fuyant un terrible Ennemi, détruit à tout jamais la planète Dune et ses vers, source de l'épice, et presque réussi à subvertir l'ordre du Bene Gesserit. Mais d'où venaient-elles ? Quel fléau fuyaient-elles ? Et comment allait se conclure leur conflit avec les restes de l'Ancien Empire ? Voici enfin la réponse à ces questions...
