Johannesburg est une ville fragmentée. Ses différentes parties ne s'intègrent pas de façon homogène. Et elle porte un nom qui ne se prononce pas facilement. Il n'est pas surprenant que les habitants de ses fragments, qui sont terriblement divisés en termes de classe, de culture, et en particulier de race, aient leurs propres noms, surnoms, élisions, diminutifs et translittérations linguistiques pour la nommer. Le " nom principal " est TJ, mais vous avez peu de chances de l'entendre dans la rue ou de le lire dans un guide. II provient de notre vieux système d'immatriculation des voitures.
