Query from Pale House hit me at just the right time; I've just finished a good book -- French mystery author, Tonino Benacquista, "Framed", about the modern art world in Paris. Clever, stylish, concise, and very satisfying! Judging by cover comments, the author has acquired a rep for "black comedy" with violence, but I found this book much more than that; I admire his close observation, deftly handled without stuffing pages with unwanted detail, and the overall speed and lightness of a book with substance to it all the same. Highly recommended! The English translation (by Adriana Hunter) has a tone that seems ideally suited to the book.
