Résumé

First person novel in voice of Barka Bousiris, a Tunisian residing in Canada (like the author) written during a trip to Egypt in search for the (2nd) female Pharaon, Hachesput (Fr: Hatchespout) [H.], a historical figure considered on of the greatest Pharaohs of all time (cf. Wikipedia). Goal to reconnect Egypt, and human civilization in general, with its Pharaonic past in a bid to transcend bitter divisions - parallel to H. uniting upper and lower Egypt -- and establish universal humanity, harmony. Reflected on micro level in the couple Ayman - Imane. The first person voice is on occasion that of his ex-lover and permanent resident of Egypt, director of the Cairo Cultural Center, Francine, of Imane, or even, at the end, of H. Presence throughout of direct references to ancient Egyptian mythology / gods; indirect allusions to contemporary Egyptian political issues adn personalities.
